To KIll a Mockingbird Essay

    In To Kill a Mockingbird Tom Robinson struggles with powerful people and obstacles. Tom is accused of raping Mayella. Mayella is the daughter of Robert Ewell, who abuses her. Tom Robinson struggles because of the color of his skin. Society automatically accuses him of being guilty because he is black.

    Tom Robinson is accused of raping Mayella Ewell. Mayella is a teenager and her dad doesn’t let her out of the house. Her father is very racist and doesn’t like Tom because he’s black. Bob Ewell tells his daughter to say that Tom raped her because her dad abused her and he knew the town would believe a black man raped her instead of her father abusing her.  

    Before the trial even started they said Tom was guilty. During this time people didn’t respect black men and women. Since people in the time didn’t respect or like black men or women Tom was automatically guilty for raping Mayella. Even though the jury did not have enough information to accuse him of raping her they still said he raped her.
