The Old Man and the Boring Sea
The Old Man and The Sea by Ernest Hemingway. Scrbner Paperback Fiction, 1952. Genre: Fiction
The story is about an old man and a very big marlin. The old man gets stuck out at sea fishing for the marlin. He gets stuck out there for 3 long days. On the third day he finally got the marlin on the boat and killed it. During his journey home the blood from the marlin attracts all the sharks. The next day fishermen gather around the fish in aw. Towards the end of the book the old man gets ill. "I was struck with how eloquent, poetic, and to the point 'The Old Man and the Sea' was. It was definately his most beautifully written book that I have read."( Caleb ) I disagree with this quote. I don't think it was poetic or to the point at all. No book I have read is similar. All the books i've read are different. The quote " A man can be destroyed but not defeated." means you can be hurt or crushed but you won't give up. I agree with the quote. I didn't like this book. It's not my type of book or anything i would read. I don't like fishing either. I give "The old man and the sea" 2 paws - find better prey.
